The dining room at Zamzam Kabab has teal walls, carved wood screens, planters between the booths and arched paintings of Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif. There are booths for families and tables for two. Sit down and the skewers go on the grill, so a kabab reaches the table hot, with rice, salad and nan. Order mantu to share while you wait. Finish with sheer yakh or baklava before you head home.

Dining in is the best way to try the whole table: a chapli kabab, a plate of Kabuli Palau, gorma sabzi and sheer yakh to finish. We are at 2400 K Ave B in Plano. On a busy night, order online instead and your food will be ready when you walk in. There is room in the booths for a family or a group of friends sharing several plates, and the grill keeps going through lunch and dinner.
